Callus is a build-up of skin that becomes hard, often caused by pressure from shoes, it can become quite uncomfortable often leading to corns or worse. This can be removed in a non-invasive way, followed by application of moisturising foot cream for smoother more comfortable feet.
Corns are caused by a build-up of hard skin often on areas of constant pressure. When the skin thickens in a particular area, it is pushed inwards causing pain. Treatment involves removing this central area of hard skin and relieving the pressure.
Ingrown toenails are most frequently caused by cutting toenails too short or wearing tight fitting shoes, the nail can also grow naturally slightly curved into the skin causing discomfort. Treatment would involve a full assessment, and if appropriate, the offending area of nail removed to relieve pressure.
A fungal nail infection is a very common occurrence, as fungus like to thrive in moist warm environments, such as shoes. Treatment for fungal nails can be a long process, and in some cases will involve ointment being applied regularly at home, between visits. The aim is for new healthy nail to grow through without infection.
Verruca’s are caused by the (HPV) virus, often picked up from walking barefoot in places such as public swimming pools or by sharing a contaminated object such as a towel. Treatment involves (debriding) removing the top layer of the verruca with a scalpel, thus stimulating the body's immune response to help fight off the virus. However, no single treatment is 100% effective and the verruca may return.
*This treatment is not recommended for children*
Sometimes it is not always possible to cut and maintain our own nails, they can become long and thick if left. This is where I can help, by trimming, filing, and reducing the thickness of the nails, followed by moisturising foot cream they will feel instantly better.
